Love Fashion? Here’s How to Take Part in Toronto Fashion Week

Toronto Fashion Week is on from September 3 to September 5 in Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. While several of the week’s events are geared towards fashion and creative industry professionals, there are plenty of ways for everyone to take part and enjoy a range of exhibitions and curated events.

From runway shows to complimentary art exhibitions to culinary experiences, the Spring/Summer 2020 edition of TFW offers a full roster of daytime and evening events for fashion enthusiasts.

Here are five great ways to experience Toronto Fashion Week this season.

SEE A SHOW

Some shows have already sold out, but there are still select tickets available for a few of the most anticipated runway shows of the season, including Lesley Hampton, The Feral and RVNG. The catwalk presentations, taking place at The Royal Ontario Museum and TFW’s new Fashion House venue, are a thrilling opportunity to see the best of what will be trending next Spring first hand.

DINE IN STYLE

Style Plate is returning to Toronto Fashion Week again this September. Starting September 1, select restaurants in the exclusive Bloor–Yorkville area will offer fashion-inspired cocktail and food creations, along with discounts and promotions, for a limited time. Most of the Style Plate programming is available to both show-goers and area shoppers throughout the week.

EMBRACE ART

Style Art is a brand-new event collaboration this season. On September 4, XPOSED x Gigi Gorgeous will be presented at The Oval at Yorkville Village at 7:30 p.m., and the YouTube sensation, actress, model and activist will be in attendance. Another highlight of the schedule is an ‘Art Crawl’ that will run until 8 p.m. the evening of September 5 and feature a number of fashionable works at The Hazelton Gallery, LUMAS Gallery, Liss Gallery, Taglialatella Gallery, Galerie de Bellefeuille and the Judith & Charles boutique.

Plus, during TFW, Toronto artist Max Jamali’s mixed-media artworks will be on display at The Lane at Yorkville Village; Jamali will even be live-painting onsite at 5 p.m. on September 5.

LEARN FROM THE PROS

A number of must-see panels and conversations are set to take place during the week, with select tickets still available online. Three top Canadian fashion and footwear designers—Franklin Benjamin Elman, Ron White and Kimberley Newport-Mimran—will be chatting with Fashion Talks host Donna Bishop at this season’s podcast tapings. Tickets for City MOGULS’ “Talk The Walk: Building Your Brand With Impact” include the opportunity to network with brand-building experts, with proceeds from the event on September 5 going to support Dress For Success Toronto.

SHOP LOCAL

The Toronto Fashion Week Marketplace will be open from 10 a.m to 7 p.m September 3–5, 2019, at The Lane in Yorkville Village. Shop both established and emerging Canadian fashion, accessory and beauty brands including Christopher Bates, Erin Marcus, Okayok, Da Lish and OOObaby. Expect to find marketplace exclusives, one-of-a-kind creations and even a sneak peek at next-season products.
