Petra Collins
Petra Collins is a multi-talented artist, photographer, filmmaker, an influential figure in Millennial and Generation Z culture, and one of the leading voices of the New-Wave Feminism movement. A photographer and director since the age of 15, her arresting images explore the complex intersection of life as a young woman online and off. Weaving together art, fashion, film, music and culture, the Toronto-born New York-based photographer and artist is world renowned for her distinctly powerful aesthetic. Collins has exhibited her art at prestigious institutions, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Tate Modern, Miami and Hong Kong Art Basel, CONTACT Photo Festival, and at galleries in New York, Los Angeles and Paris. She’s also shot campaigns for couture, eyewear and cosmetics brands, such as Gucci, Adidas, Nordstrom, Levi’s and Stella McCartney. Her work has been featured on the covers and high-end editorial pages of publications including Vogue, Teen Vogue, ELLE, Dazed & Confused, CR Fashion Book, I-D, Garage, Wonderland, The New York Times and Purple Magazine. Collins is author of art book Babe, and her next project, a solo retrospective of her work with Rizzoli, will be released this fall. She has directed music videos and shot artwork for artists such as Selena Gomez, Lil Yachty and Carly Rae Jepsen, in addition to directing short films for influential brands like Gucci and Adidas. Collins has also appeared on the other side of the lens, as the face of Gucci’s fragrance alongside Dakota Johnson and Hari Nef, and as one of Adidas’s ambassadors and faces with artists including Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. She also leads the Ardorous Collective, an artistic think-tank and team of female creative professionals working together to redefine the way society views being a woman in today’s world.
