Bustle revved up the runway on Day Two of Toronto Fashion Week Reimagined with its memorable models and latest looks. The Canadian menswear label’s (married) designers Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow sent their kids Georgia, 9, and Griff, 5, down the runway in miniature versions of their signature printed pant and track suits. “The kids really drove this whole thing,” says Ruth Promislow. “They were complaining, ‘Why don’t we have track suits like you?’ It inspired us to do a collection for them.”
The kids weren’t the only notable models: Homegrown supermodel Stacey McKenzie walked the runway in a green garden-printed pantsuit. “Stacey did our first show ever in 2003,” says Shawn Hewson. (By that point in her career, McKenzie had already commanded the catwalk at Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Christian Lacroix.) Now, Hewson and Promislow say that McKenzie is the living embodiment of their brand. “We love fun stuff, we love to have a good time and we’re always inspired to make outfits that you can wear walking down the street—or maybe just on the runway,” Hewson says with a smile.
